OmegaSoft PressPathSearch codebase to be recodedBirmingham, UK - 11 Sep 2007 - The OmegaSoft PathSearch codebase is to be recoded, as part of its long-term development.
The current search engine, released at the start of 2006 is mainly written as set procedures, which are called in order as the search engine starts its 'query life cycle'.
The recoding will see the procedures replaced with the more widely used object orientated schema.
By adopting an object orientated approach, the search engine will be segregated into sets of classes (modules of code), which will help maintain, redevelop and add further features in the future, as each module can be developed without effecting the rest of the code.
The lead developer for the PathSearch Technology Project commented, "By adopting the OOP approach, we can redevelop certain parts of the search engine more efficiently, without rewritting the majority of the engine again".
The recoding is part of a long-term strategy for redevelopment of the PathSearch search engine.
During this phase, users should not notice any changes with the service. About OmegaSoftOmegaSoft develops and maintains internet and network based services.
